Energy Star is a government program jointly implemented by the US Department of Energy and the US Environmental Protection Agency to better protect the living environment and save energy. In 1992, it was participated by the US Environmental Protection Agency and was first promoted on computer products. The products that are now included in this certification have reached more than 30 categories, such as household appliances, heating/cooling equipment, electronic products, lighting products, etc. Currently, the most widely used products in the Chinese market are lighting products, including energy-saving lamps (CFL). , lamps (RLF), traffic lights and exit lights.

What is the Energy Star? Energy Star is an energy conservation program lead by the US government that focuses on consumer electronics. The ENERGY STAR program was launched in 1992 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) to reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The plan was later adopted by Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand and the European Union. The program is voluntary, and the ENERGY STAR standard typically saves 20-30% more energy than the US federal standard. The earliest products that matched this plan were mainly computer and other information appliances, and then gradually extended to motors, office equipment, lighting, home appliances and so on. Later, it expanded to the building. The US Environmental Protection Agency has been actively promoting the Energy Star Building Program since 1996. The EPA assists voluntary participants in assessing the energy use of buildings (including lighting, air conditioning, office equipment, etc.) and planning the building. The Energy Efficiency Improvement Action Plan and follow-up operations, so some ENERGY STAR logos can be found in homes or businesses buildings that introduce new environmental concepts.

Carrying out the status quo: Seven countries and regions around the world participate in the US Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Program, which is the United States, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, and the European Union. Since 2001, the International Energy Star Program has been held annually.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) jointly announced the adjustment of the ENERGY STAR product certification process on April 14, 2010 to ensure that only products that meet the requirements are approved for the ENERGY STAR label. In this adjustment, the clause that is effective immediately is that if the manufacturer wants to obtain the “Energy Star” certification label, it must submit a complete test report and evaluation results, and the EPA will prove that the product is “energy” approved by the EPA. Manufacturers will not be able to obtain the ENERGY STAR certification mark until they are qualified.

At the same time, during the ENERGY STAR qualification review process, the EPA strengthened the approval system and no longer relied on the automated approval process, but instead inspected and approved all new qualification applications.

The EPA and DOE will further strengthen the ENERGY STAR certification process by the end of 2010, requiring all manufacturers to submit test results from accredited, approved laboratories to ensure that the product meets the ENERGY STAR requirements. The products currently involved include windows, doors, skylights and fluorescent bulbs. In the new testing process, the product category under the ENERGY STAR program will be expanded to more than 60 items, including freezer and refrigerator freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, water heater and room air conditioner.
